There is a support period for operating systems and software. After the support period ends, security updates will no longer be provided and you will be using the software in a dangerous state. Be sure to use supported software.

ウイルス対策ソフトを最新版に更新する

Windows comes with an antivirus program called "Windows Defender" installed as standard. Make sure you know how to use it. Make it a habit to check whether it is updated to the latest version and whether any threats are found during scans.

OSを最新版に更新する(Windowsの更新プログラム)

Windows updates (Windows Update) are provided to protect your OS from unauthorized access and cyber attacks. If you are notified of an update, update it to use the latest version of the OS.

Back up your important data

You never know when your PC might break down, so be sure to save important data such as assignments and reports to cloud services such as Google Drive or OneDrive, or to external media (USB).

Use the software in accordance with the license terms and conditions.

When installing software, the license terms will be displayed. Be sure to observe the number of installations and terms of use. Free software also has terms and conditions.

偽物?海賊版?不正コピーされたソフトウエアをインストールしない

Installing illegally obtained software is a copyright violation. It may also lead to virus infection or unauthorized access. Always use genuine software.

迷惑メール(スパムメール)は絶対に開かない/迷惑メールやSNSの投稿内のリンク(URL)はクリックしない

Do not open spam emails or attached files as you may be infected with a virus. After clicking the link, you will be directed to a malicious web page where you will be asked to enter personal information and the information will be stolen. Delete spam emails immediately. Even if you do click on a link, do not enter any information such as your ID, password, or credit card number if you are asked to do so.

フリーWi-Fiは正規のフリーWi-Fiかを確認/フリーWi-Fi利用時は、個人情報は入力しない

When using free Wi-Fi, there is a risk that third parties may intercept (sneak a look at) your communications. There is also a risk that the contents of emails you send and receive, your ID, password, and other personal information you enter may be collected. Do not enter personal information. There are also fake free Wi-Fi services that look similar to genuine free Wi-Fi provided by stores. If in doubt, refrain from using it.

大学でWi-Fiを利用する場合は、ネットワークの使用上のルールをよく読み接続する

ブラウザの「先読み機能(プリロード)」を無効にする

ブラウザにはページの表示速度を上げるために、実際のアクセスよりも前にページに接続し、データなどをダウンロードする「先読み」の機能があります。 この機能が働いていると、意図せず短時間に大量アクセス/大量ダウンロードを行ってしまう場合があります。
ブラウザの設定を以下のように変更することで、この機能を無効にすることができます。
この機能を無効(OFF)にすることにより、意図せず不審なサイトにアクセスしてしまう危険性や不要なバックグラウンド通信を減らすことができ、プライバシーおよびセキュリティ上のリスクの低減に加え、通信量やバッテリー消費の抑制にもつながります。

 Microsoft Edge  1.「設定」から「プライバシー/検索/サービス」を選択
 2.「Cookie」を開く
 3.「ページをプリロードして閲覧と検索を高速化する」をオフにする
 Google Chrome  1.「設定」から「パフォーマンス」を選択
 2.速度「ページをプリロードする」をオフにする
 Safari (Mac)  1.メニューバーの「Safari」>「環境設定」(または「設定」)を開く
 2.「検索」タブの「バックグラウンドでトップヒットを事前に読み込む」のチェックをはずす

Here are some tips to keep in mind for safe use of smartphones.

Use a supported OS

OSes have a support period. After the support period ends, security updates will no longer be provided and the OS will be used in a dangerous state. Regularly check the support period of the OS you use and use a supported OS.

When installing an app, always check the permissions you are asked to grant before granting them. Determine whether the app you want to install requires access to your contacts, camera, etc. If the app has unnatural permissions, it is safer to refrain from installing it.
